Below others have said that many prophets of old were buried in the place of the skull...
Were they all buried in Golgotha-the place of the SKULL ?
or did they all crucify their carnal minds to become ONE and immortal=the virgin birth in the brain, mind/skull ?
Could this be true ?
An early Christian leader named Origen, who lived from 185-253 AD, recorded that Jesus was crucified on the spot where Adam was buried and where his skull had been found. Whether or not this is true, there was an early Christian belief that Jesus had been crucified near Adam’s burial place.
Jewish tradition states that Adam’s skull was buried near the city of Jerusalem by Noah’s son, Shem. Tradition says this burial place was guarded by Melchizedek, who was the priest-king of Salem (Jerusalem) during the time of Abraham (see Genesis 14:18)
Essentially the same story is recounted by:
σταυρόω stauróō, stow-ro'-o; from G4716; to impale on the cross; figuratively, to extinguish (subdue) passion or selfishness:—crucify.
The cross is where the animal nature brings suffering
Crucifixion
The crossing out in consciousness of errors that have become fixed states of mind; the senses ..carnal man!
The crucifixion of Jesus represents the crucifying of the ego/carnal man out of consciousness. We give up the self, the mortal body and our thoughts so that we may unite with the selfless and become ONE, immortal ...spiritual!

Essentially the same story is recounted by:
- A text of c.325-350 attributed, probably falsely, to Athanasius of Alexandria (c.297-373)
- John Chrysostom (c.347-407) in a homily on John's gospel, 19:16, says "Some say that Adam died there, and there lies; and that Jesus in this place where death had reigned, there also set up the trophy."
- A fifth or sixth century commentary on Isaiah, attributed, again probably falsely, to Basil the Great (329-379)
- Epiphanius of Salamis (c.310-403) in his Panarion 46.5, against the Tatianists, says Adam "was buried there, on the site of Golgotha. This is probably the way the place, which means 'Place of a Skull', got its name, since the contour of the site bears no resemblance to a skull."
- Basil of Seleucia (d. 458) in his Sermon 38 (Patrologia Graeca 85.409)
- Jerome (347-420) in his commentaries on Matthew 27:33 and Ephesians 5:14, both written in 398; though he finds the story doubtful.
